Built in the 1960’s, the Don Wright Faculty of Music at Western University is one of Canada’s leading music schools. Abbott was originally engaged to coordinate a team to assess renovation options and to consider a new site location for the faculty. We completed studies that included an examination of the existing building conditions and exploration of possibilities for alterations and additions.
Working with Educational Consultant Services, Abbott also provided a program analysis for the music department and worked with with the faculty and building committee to prepare ways in which Talbot College and the existing music library could be modified, upgraded, and made more effective. Following the successful completion of these studies, Abbott was engaged to provide project management and cost consulting for the complete renovation, addition, and refurbishment of the existing building. Not only is Talbot College now brought up to today’s standards of efficiency and bearing, but the authentic structure was kept sound and transformed into a state of the art feature hub.
