The nation’s oldest continually performing playhouse – The Grand Theatre opened in 1901 as the Grand Opera House. A dominant cultural hub, the Grand is located in the heart of downtown London, Ontario.
Abbott’s team was engaged in providing Owners Representation for the complex project required to enhance the Theatre. The project involved multiple challenges, including a complete mechanical upgrade to enable increased efficiencies while still utilizing the building’s original off-grid steam infrastructure. Following the mechanical upgrade was a full interior renovation and modernization, aligning with the Theatre’s more traditional form of theatrical design.
Upon successfully completing the project, the historic Grand Theatre remains a beautiful and exhilarant place for Londoners to gather, celebrate, and be uplifted by exceptional theatre experiences.
