The National Research Council of Canada (NRC) is the Canadian government's main science and technology research and development agency. The NRC has a mandate to support industrial research and new manufacturing technologies, and to integrate them into a digital factory or vehicle platform or subassembly. As the first major building to unify companies, governments, and universities, NRC initiated a collaborative workspace and four flexible labs, two-vehicle bays, and a high crane bay to accommodate and support the automation industry with the rapid advancements in vehicle technology and manufacturing.

Abbott collaborated with the consulting team to bring this 75,000 square foot one-of-a-kind research facility to successful completion. Our collective goal was to merge the spacial gap, creating an ideal facility for exhibitions to potential industry partners and research grant funding. Most importantly, we opened a door for engineering students and researchers by creating a space that cultivates problem-solving and showcases the creativity that inspires students and visitors alike.
